Sokoto Must Not Descend into Political Violence, ADC Warns After Airport Attack on Dan’iya

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) says its Sokoto governorship candidate, Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, survived an alleged gun attack at Sultan Abubakar III International Airport on October 30, 2026. The ADC also alleges that members of the state-owned Sokoto Marshals and Sokoto Community Guards were involved and is calling for an independent investigation. It links the incident to other alleged intimidation targeting its women supporters, offices, and campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Oruruo also pointed to Governor Peter Mbah’s administration’s development programmes and encouraged residents to assess parties’ proposals and records.
