Solomon Islands PM survives ouster bid, parliament adjourned

Solomon Islands Prime Minister Matthew Wale survived an attempt to oust his government, with parliament adjourned indefinitely to prevent another immediate challenge. The no-confidence motion was withdrawn by its sponsor, Manasseh Maelanga, after several lawmakers crossed over to Wale’s coalition. Wale stated that the break would allow his government to pursue major reforms, including free education and mining changes.
