Anambra State police said officers were present at St Faith’s Anglican Cathedral in Awka on Sunday to maintain order and prevent a breach of the peace during a service conducted by Archbishop Alexander Ibezim. France: Students block access to the Louvre in support of high schoolers

Students from the École du Louvre, joined by students from the École des Beaux-Arts, blocked access to the museum on Monday morning, preventing it from opening normally at 9 a.m. In a leaflet, they called for the right to study, work and live freely in good conditions; the Louvre’s management said the action was independent of the institution. The CGT union supports the protest and expected the closure to last at least until noon. The blockade follows high school protests that began in mid-September and comes exactly one year after the Louvre was burgled on October 19, 2025.

Teachers’ strike: Government surprised despite dialogue with unions

The G7, a group of seven education unions, plans a total stoppage of classes from October 21 to 23, 2026. The unions cite delayed allowance payments, slow implementation of the April 16 agreement and ongoing problems in the education sector. National Education Minister Moustapha Mamba Guirassy said he was surprised by the strike call, noting that monthly and twice-monthly meetings with unions are continuing.
