Somalia has managed to cut down cholera deaths by 93 percent and re-established a national medicines regulatory authority after more than three decades. Dr. Adham Ismail from WHO also announced that three countries in the region have been validated for eliminating trachoma as a public health problem. Meanwhile, Sudan increased pentavalent vaccination coverage to 71 percent in a single year, despite ongoing conflicts.
