Somalia Launches First Offshore Oil Drilling Campaign

The federal government of Somalia has officially launched its first offshore oil drilling campaign, deemed to have significant economic and geopolitical importance. State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ali Omar stated that if successful, the operation could enhance Somalia's economic growth prospects. The Turkish research vessel Cagri Bey has begun drilling operations, with the first well, Curad-1, expected to be drilled later this month.
