Sonatel to split shares 10-for-1 to make them more accessible to investors

Sonatel announced a 10-for-1 share split, approved by its extraordinary general meeting on October 8, 2026, and disclosed on October 15. Each existing share will be replaced by ten new shares, increasing the number of shares from 100 million to 1 billion while leaving the share capital unchanged at 50 billion CFA francs. The split aims to improve trading liquidity on the BRVM and make the shares more accessible, without changing shareholders’ proportional ownership or the theoretical value of their portfolios at the time of the split. The last trading session under the current terms will be October 23, and the split shares, identified by the symbol SNTS, will begin trading on October 26; the conversion will happen automatically.

Authorities will maintain a safety stock equal to one month of national consumption; CSS reserves are estimated at about 30,000 tonnes, and the ministry is monitoring the price gap because imported sugar is currently cheaper.
