Sony, Warner Music sue Anthropic, saying it pirated songs to train its AI

Sony Music and Warner Music have filed a lawsuit against Anthropic in U.S. federal court in California, accusing the company of misusing copyrighted song compositions to train its Claude AI models. The plaintiffs claim that Anthropic pirated lyrics and sheet music from hundreds of artists, including The Beatles and Taylor Swift. Anthropic has previously settled disputes, but the plaintiffs argue that the $1.5 billion settlement is not enough to deter future infringements.
