The Cameroonian government has suspended the divestment process of the Cameroon Sugar Company (SOSUCAM) and initiated a thorough evaluation of the company's situation. A strategic committee, led by Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute, visited the Mbandjock and Nkoteng sites to assess the facilities. Somdia, the current owner, expressed its willingness to support the process while preserving jobs and developing the sugar sector. The committee has six months to formulate its conclusions, while several scenarios are being considered regarding the future of SOSUCAM.
