Soubré: Villages and Camps Threatened by Rapid Rise of Sassandra River Waters

The Ivorian Electricity Company (CIE) plans to release water from the Buyo dam, which could cause a rapid rise in the Sassandra River's water level. Kouamé Bi Kalou Clément, the prefect of the Nawa region, issued a warning to residents, especially those living in low-lying areas, villages, and agricultural camps downstream of the dam. He advised monitoring the river level and evacuating immediately at the first signs of flooding. Heavy rainfall upstream has worsened the situation, increasing the risk of floods and disrupting local economic activities.
