South Africa renews call for permanent African UN seats

South Africa's International Relations and Cooperation Minister Ronald Lamola called for permanent African representation on the UN Security Council during the UN General Assembly. He emphasized that reforming global governance, especially the Security Council, is crucial to rebuild trust in multilateralism and ensure fairer representation for developing countries and the Global South. This stance aligns with the recent BRICS Summit in New Delhi, which advocated for reforming international organizations like the UN, IMF, World Bank, and WTO to better reflect African aspirations outlined in the Ezulwini Consensus and the Sirte Declaration.
