At least 27 people were killed in two separate shootings in South Africa, in Johannesburg and near Cape Town, during the night from Saturday to Sunday. The first attack, around 9:30 PM in Johannesburg, resulted in 17 deaths (13 men and 4 women) and 15 injuries after eight armed men with AK-47 rifles and pistols opened fire at a bar. The second shooting, at 1:46 AM in Lwandle near Cape Town, killed 10 people and injured 11 others, with motives still unknown. South Africa averages 60 murders per day, one of the highest rates in the world.
