South Kivu: 6-year-old child dies of hunger at a displacement site in Kalehe

A 6-year-old child displaced by war died of hunger on November 4 at the Katashola site in Kalehe territory, South Kivu. Witnesses said the child had gone two days without food, and the child’s siblings are also reportedly in an alarming situation. Camp displacement representative Rwashi Lami said neighbors found the child after being alerted. The parents had gone to look for work to feed their children; the site hosts more than 10,000 households, nearly half of them displaced from North Kivu by fighting.

The ONPS will publish an annual report on social indicators and recommend corrective measures.
