South Kivu: A Dozen Fires with Huge Damage in 24 Hours

A dozen fires devastated the city of Bukavu and its surroundings on September 11, 2026, destroying nearly 100 houses. The municipalities of Kadutu, Ibanda, and Bagira were particularly affected, with fires reported in Panzi, Mulambula, and Cimpunda. In the Mwenga territory, several houses were also burned down, with no human casualties reported. Victims sought refuge in the woods after losing everything.
