Sowore reacts after 11 suspects arrested over Ekiti attack

Ekiti State police arrested 11 suspects in connection with an attack on Omoyele Sowore, an African Action Congress presidential aspirant, and his team at a restaurant in Ado-Ekiti. The suspects were detained Friday night in the Atikankan area, and police recovered items including mobile phones, walkie-talkies and substances suspected to be cannabis. Sowore demanded that those who planned and financed the attack be identified and called for CCTV footage to be preserved and released. He also urged investigators to examine possible links to the City Boys group and state government officials.

District of Columbia and Virginia sue to block Trump’s triumphal arch plans

The District of Columbia and Virginia have filed a joint lawsuit seeking to block President Donald Trump’s planned triumphal arch. The White House says construction could begin as early as next week, around November 5, after the administration unveiled a 106-page proposal for a 12-storey megastructure on Friday.

The transfer of Lamuka official Prince Epenge to Makala Central Prison on October 31 sparked anger among opposition figures. Devos Kitoko, secretary-general of the ECiDé, called the detention political and said Epenge was accused of spreading false rumors following the death of a party member. Kitoko said opposition members were attacked in Kinshasa on September 15 and accused Augustin Kabuya and his supporters of using the justice system against Epenge while the alleged attackers remain free. He said the ECiDé rejects armed struggle but warned that repression is closing off peaceful avenues of expression.
