Special voting: 2.65 million approved as ballot delays hit Cape Metro stations

The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) approved 2,655,067 applications for special voting on November 2 and 3, ahead of the November 4 local government elections. Approved voters must cast their ballots at the station where they are registered and present a South African identity document, valid driver’s licence or Temporary Identity Certificate.

Technical committee coordinator Jean-Philippe Mukuaki said preparations for the second phase had been completed.
