Spotify says pop music's bias towards English is faltering

Spotify revealed that songs in 16 different languages, including Spanish, Korean, and Arabic, appeared in its Global Top 50 last year, more than double the figure from 2020. Bad Bunny was the most-streamed artist globally, while Rosalía won a Brit Award for an album predominantly sung in a language other than English. Despite English still dominating the charts, South Korean bands like Stray Kids and Enhypen also made it to the top-selling lists.
