Starlink network performance in Kenya worsens amid congestion

Starlink's internet speed in Kenya dropped 26% to 34.55 Mbps as of March 2026, according to Ookla, due to a surge in subscribers (24,999, up from 17,066 a year earlier) straining bandwidth. Kenya now has the third-highest Starlink subscribers in Africa after Zimbabwe and Nigeria, but speeds are among the lowest on the continent. The performance gap with local ISPs is narrowing.
