Stop the money before it disappears, EFCC takes on new challenge

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of Nigeria is adopting a new preventive approach to combat corruption, allowing for the freezing of suspicious transactions for 72 hours. Between October 2023 and July 2026, the EFCC received nearly 50,000 petitions and secured over 10,000 convictions. EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede emphasized the importance of intervening before money is stolen by detecting suspicious financial movements.
