Andre Ayew recalled Ghana’s 2010 World Cup quarter-final defeat to Uruguay, saying Luis Suarez’s handball crushed the hopes of an entire continent. Suarez stopped Dominic Adiyiah’s goal-bound header on the line, was sent off and conceded a penalty, but Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan hit the crossbar. Uruguay went on to win the penalty shootout 4-2 after the match ended 1-1. Ayew said the players did not blame Gyan and that he still avoids rewatching the shootout.
