Supplies, registration, uniforms: How much does the 2026 school start really cost for a family?

The 2026-2027 school year represents a significant expense for families, with costs exceeding a month's salary for those with multiple children due to rising expenses for supplies, uniforms, and registration fees. In public schools, registration is free but parents pay a contribution, with total costs per student ranging from 30,000 to 60,000 CFA francs. Private schools have much higher fees for registration, supplies, and uniforms, sometimes reaching several hundred thousand CFA francs. Prices remain high despite the financial strain on families, especially after the rainy season and holidays.
