Supreme Court of Appeal upholds Western Cape education reforms - WCED

The Western Cape Education Department welcomed the Supreme Court of Appeal's judgment dismissing appeals by Equal Education and the South African Democratic Teachers' Union (Sadtu) against provisions of the province's School Education Amendment Act. Education MEC Jaco Londt stated that the education reforms are lawful and focused on the best interests of learners. The court upheld the legality of provisions related to collaboration schools and donor-funded schools.
