Abidjan will host the West African College of Surgeons’ 67th annual scientific congress from January 31 to February 4, 2027, at the Sofitel Abidjan Hôtel Ivoire and Félix Houphouët-Boigny University. A free surgery campaign will run from January 25 to 31 in several Ivorian locations, including Korhogo, Toumodi and Aboisso, aiming to treat 1,000 patients with conditions such as hernias, goiters and fibroids. At the conference launch on October 20, 2026, local organizing committee president Professor Koffi Solange called surgery an essential pillar of health and highlighted barriers to surgical care in Africa.
