Sustainable Mobility in Africa: Abidjan Declaration Sets Four Priorities

The second International Conference on Sustainable Mobility and Climate ended in Abidjan on October 21 with the presentation of the Abidjan Declaration, after bringing together more than 1,300 participants from 40 countries. The declaration calls for better coordination between urban planning and transport, improved governance and financing, climate-resilient infrastructure, and support for technological and social innovation. Dioman Coné, chief of staff at the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs, urged the use of green financing as Abidjan advances metro, bus rapid transit, and lagoon transport projects.
