Syria’s al-Sharaa warns Israeli attacks endanger delicate post-war recovery

Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa called for Israel to withdraw from internationally recognized Syrian territory at the UN, condemning Israeli actions that undermine Syria’s security and post-war recovery. He cited 500 air strikes, over 1,200 incursions, and 300 detentions by Israel in Syria. Al-Sharaa, who came to power in 2024 after overthrowing Bashar al-Assad, stated that Syria has begun rebuilding through restoring arms control, lifting sanctions, and facilitating the return of approximately 3.5 million refugees.
