Syria’s Assad-era reactor configured for nuclear weapons: IAEA

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi reported that Syria's Assad-era nuclear reactor was configured to produce material for potential use in nuclear weapons. The agency confirmed that the cooling infrastructure uncovered at the Deir Az Zor site was consistent with that of a nuclear reactor. Despite the site's destruction by Israeli airstrikes in 2007, hidden nuclear materials were discovered during a recent inspection.
