Taiwan court hands down jail terms in TSMC trade secrets case

A court in Taiwan fined the local unit of Tokyo Electron $5 million and sentenced five defendants to prison terms of up to 10 years in a trade secrets case involving TSMC. Chen Li-ming, a former TSMC and Tokyo Electron employee, was sentenced to 10 years for unlawfully obtaining trade secrets. Three other former TSMC employees received sentences ranging from two to six years, while a former Tokyo Electron employee received a 10-month suspended sentence.
