Take responsibility for your political choices, not Buhari, ex-presidential aide tells Amaechi

Bashir Ahmad, a former presidential aide, criticized ADC presidential running mate Rotimi Amaechi for blaming Muhammadu Buhari for his failure in the APC’s 2022 presidential primaries. Amaechi had said he regretted following Buhari’s advice not to campaign or negotiate with delegates, claiming Buhari promised to name him as the consensus candidate. Writing on X, Ahmad said Buhari respected party processes and democratic competition, and that a private promise alone could not explain the contest’s political realities. He urged Amaechi to take responsibility for his own political choices rather than blame his former boss, who is no longer able to respond.
