Tambacounda: 29 defendants sentenced for unnatural acts and HIV-related offenses, with terms up to 7 years

The Tambacounda High Court delivered its verdict on Wednesday in a case involving 29 people charged with unnatural acts, intentional HIV transmission and endangering another person’s life. The investigation began on September 24, 2026, after police found two students in the toilets at Lycée Mame Cheikh Mbaye and identified other suspects through phone searches and interviews. Four defendants were acquitted, while one student received the maximum sentence of seven years in prison; others received terms ranging from two to five years. The court postponed its decision on seven other defendants until November 4.
