Tanzania Breaks the Ice On Its Role As the EACOP Transit

The Tanzanian government clarified that its participation in the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project focuses on transporting crude oil from Uganda to international markets. Deputy Minister for Energy, Salome Makamba, stated that Tanzania's role is as a transit nation, facilitating the movement of oil from Kabaale to Chongoleani. Oil sales agreements have already been signed between upstream stakeholders in Uganda, including the Ugandan government and international oil companies such as TotalEnergies and CNOOC.
