Tanzania Introduces Mandatory Travel Insurance for Foreign Visitors

Tanzania has introduced mandatory travel insurance for foreign visitors entering mainland Tanzania, costing Ksh5,700 ($44) and valid for up to 92 days. Citizens of the East African Community and Southern African Development Community member states are exempt from this requirement. The insurance covers emergency medical treatment, medical evacuation, and loss of luggage. This move follows a similar policy introduced in Kenya in July 2026.
