Tanzania is building a giant cargo ship to cover the Indian Ocean ports

Tanzania is investing USD 4 million in the construction of a giant cargo ship to operate in the Indian Ocean, serving destinations including Comoros, Mombasa, and Seychelles. The project is part of the national budget for 2026-2027 and aims to enhance blue economy development. The Tanzania Shipping Company (TASHICO) has begun procurement procedures, with construction expected to start in early 2027 and completion anticipated by 2029.
