Tanzania to close schools early as El Niño rains loom

Tanzania has brought forward the closure of pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools by three weeks as the government prepares for the potentially destructive El Niño phenomenon expected between October and December. Schools across Mainland Tanzania will now close on November 13 instead of December 4, according to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. The move aims to mitigate the impact of El Niño.
