Taraba govt clarifies reports on alleged absence of forest guard in state

The Taraba state government has dismissed reports alleging that forest guards are absent from farming communities. Special Adviser on Security, Colonel Joshua Garbiya Kwelle (rtd), stated that all 750 recruited forest guards have been trained and deployed across the 16 local government councils. Launched in 2025, the program aims to secure forest corridors and prevent banditry. Kwelle also noted that salary arrangements are being finalized and urged journalists to verify information from credible sources.
