Taraba varsity management seeks industrial harmony amid ASUU strike

Taraba State University management in Jalingo urged students to remain calm and patient as a strike by the local ASUU branch, which began on October 12, 2026, disrupts classes and ongoing examinations. In a Monday statement signed by Registrar Dr Joseph Omar Bibinu, the university acknowledged the disruption and reaffirmed its commitment to academic staff welfare. Management welcomed Taraba State Government efforts, including setting up a committee to review salaries, and said it hoped dialogue would resolve the dispute. The strike concerns implementation of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement and salary arrears dating from January 2026.
