Finance Minister Cheikh Diba revealed that 65% of energy subsidies benefit the wealthiest 20% of Senegal, highlighting the need for reform to better target vulnerable households. The government plans to maintain a social tariff for households consuming less than 150 kWh per month. Since January 1, 2026, the kWh prices for low-power domestic customers are set at 82 FCFA for the first tranche, with a 10% reduction to ease household bills.
