Jacques Kyabula Katwe returned to Lubumbashi on September 17, 2026, after more than a year in Kinshasa. His return follows his resignation as governor of Haut-Katanga, with Martin Kazembe Shula currently serving as interim. Upon his arrival, he thanked President Félix Tshisekedi for his support and asserted his presence in the political arena, urging his supporters to back him in the national dialogue.
