Tea factory blocked from joining Citibank Sh261m loan probe case

The High Court in Nairobi rejected Kiru Tea Factory Company Ltd's application to join a case where Citibank N.A. Kenya seeks to stop a criminal investigation into a disputed $2.02 million loan. The judge ruled that the farmers-owned company, managed by the Kenya Tea Development Agency, did not demonstrate that its exclusion would harm its interests. Kiru claimed the loan was never authorized by its board and requested the June 15 orders to be set aside to allow the police investigation to continue.
