Teachers Threaten Nationwide Strike for Second Term Over Medical Scheme & Staff Shortage

Teachers, represented by the Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET), have threatened to initiate a nationwide strike at the end of April if the government does not address issues related to their medical coverage and teacher shortages. In Bungoma County, only three hospitals are treating teachers, severely limiting access to healthcare. Union leaders have given the government until the end of the school holiday to take action, or they will proceed with a total school shutdown.
