Telcos to wait 6 months before deactivating dormant lines

Telecommunications firms, including Safaricom and Airtel, will be prohibited from reselling dormant SIM cards until a six-month period has lapsed. New rules from the Communications Authority of Kenya require service providers to contact owners of inactive SIM cards and give them an additional three months to reactivate their lines. Operators will also need to publish lists of numbers due for deactivation one month prior to the shutdown.
