The prosecutor at the Mbour Criminal Chamber has sought a ten-year prison sentence for P. Makhwellé, a South African student charged with international drug trafficking. She told the court that health problems following childbirth and her partner’s abandonment led her to take part in the trafficking to pay for medical care.
