The Church of England has taken a long-overdue step on Palestine

The General Synod of the Church of England adopted a motion committing the Church to seriously engage with Palestinian Christian statements, including Kairos Palestine II, and to review its investments in light of the ICJ advisory opinion on occupied Palestinian territory. The motion, passed by an overwhelming majority of bishops, clergy, and laity, was criticized by pro-Israel groups such as the Board of Deputies of British Jews, who accused the Church of enabling anti-Semitism. The author argues that such criticism ignores the diversity of opinion and conflates hostility towards Jews with legitimate criticism of Israeli policies.
