Since August 20, the Congolese government has suspended academic activities in 11 higher education institutions in Goma and Bukavu, which are under the control of AFC/M23. Professor Muhindo Mughanda, the ousted rector of the University of Goma, states that the university remains a state institution. He views the suspension of activities as a just measure taken by the competent authority to organize higher education.
