The girlfriends I stole for abandoned me, convict says

Suleiman Idi, 25, from Ngurore in Adamawa State, admitted stealing 700,000 naira to buy two phones for his girlfriends, Aisha and Asabe. Arrested in June 2026, he was sentenced to six years in prison and transferred to the Yolde Pate Correctional Centre on June 22. On October 23, the state’s Jail Delivery Committee reduced his sentence to two years. Idi regretted the theft and said neither girlfriend had visited him or shown him support in prison.
