The issue of the Ebola epidemic in the DRC is addressed at the regular session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva

The United Nations Human Rights Council opened its 63rd regular session on September 7, 2026, in Geneva, chaired by Ambassador Sidharto Reza Suryodipuro. High Commissioner Volker Türk emphasized the need to strengthen international law and warned about pressures against international cooperation, citing the Ebola epidemic in the Democratic Republic of the Congo as an example of the consequences of weakened global health systems. He noted that reduced funding has worsened the health situation in the country.
