The joint ceasefire verification mechanism between the Government and the AFC/M23 is now complete

Three FARDC officers joined the joint ceasefire verification mechanism between Kinshasa and the AFC/M23 in Goma this week, completing the government's representation. The structure, now comprising three FARDC officers, three from AFC/M23, three MONUSCO experts, and representatives of the ICGLR, plans to deploy its first verification mission next week in conflict zones of North and South Kivu. Established under the Doha process, the mechanism monitors the ceasefire and investigates violations, with the African Union, Qatar, and the United States as observers.
