The kingmakers who could determine Israel’s election

Ahead of Israel’s October 27 election, Ra’am and the Joint List, which represent Palestinian citizens of Israel, are projected to win 13 seats between them. The Arab-led lists could be pivotal in forming a post-election coalition, although Benjamin Netanyahu and most opposition leaders have ruled out governing with them. In 2021, Ra’am, led by Mansour Abbas, became the first Arab party to join an Israeli government when it entered the coalition of Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid.
