The lifting of the curfew in Isiro and Watsa raises concerns among civil society

The provincial government of Haut-Uele decided to lift the curfew imposed nearly a month ago in Isiro and Watsa, in response to increased banditry, including armed robberies and murders. However, civil society and some political leaders believe the security situation remains alarming, especially after a motorcycle taxi driver was killed in Durba. Police patrols had been intensified during the curfew period, but violent incidents continue to be reported, raising concerns about the decision to end the measure.
