The police deploy Mobile Intervention Groups to target drug dealers in Kinshasa

The Congolese national police (PNC) has deployed Mobile Intervention Groups Alpha and Ouest since September 29 to combat drug trafficking and sales in Kinshasa. These operations respond to an increase in the use of diverted medications by young people, including a substance called « Mpuku amemi congélateur », a mix of high-dose painkillers. Local youth report serious health and social damages caused by these substances, and the police plan to continue patrols and arrests to dismantle the distribution networks.
