The surge in food prices affects households and traders in Goma

Food prices in Goma have risen over several weeks, impacting households and traders. The measure of beans now costs between 4,000 and 5,000 CDF, up from 2,500 CDF, and the sack of onions has increased from 120,000 to nearly 300,000 CDF. The price of a kilogram of potatoes from Ngungu is now 1,500 CDF, and spice supply costs have also risen, reducing stock volumes. The increase is attributed to drought, export of harvests to Uganda, and higher procurement costs in Rutshuru, Masisi, and Rwanda.
