The TER extends to AIBD, the biggest losers of the service launch this Monday

The second phase of the regional express train (TER) was launched on September 28, 2026, adding 19 kilometers between Diamniadio and Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD). It now provides a direct, regular rail connection between Dakar and the airport in about 55 minutes, competing with taxis and VTC services, which face increased competition. The TER fares range from 4,000 to 10,000 FCFA depending on sources, compared to private transfer prices of 13,000 to 25,000 FCFA. Traditional shuttle and taxi services are now under pressure from this new transportation option.
